Should I register products that I purchased?
Yes,
registering a product is usually to your advantage as well as a chance for
the manufacturer to get some information about you. You'll most likely
get some benefit from the registration such a free updates, offers, updated
drivers, support, etc. Sometimes you'll register and you'll find that
there is no benefit except a lot of email and phone calls trying to sell you
more products. Well, it's not a perfect system.
No,
don't ever register unless you have to! (Independent opinion).
Twice I have been burned by registering products that I purchased! The
first time I bought Microsoft FrontPage 2002 and I registered it and got an
activation code. After I sold my system and bought a new one, the
activation code doesn't work anymore. It was part of their security so
you can't install it on more than one system. The other time I was
burned was with Intuit's Quicktax program. I installed it at work to
try and then registered it. When I installed it at home to actually do
my taxes, they key doesn't work anymore. They are making it harder for
people like me who actually buy their software, why should I register?

Go ahead and register all your hardware and software. If you have
problems with your activation code, you are the legal owner and can always
get support from them
